The Oregon Garden Education Department Grows Great Minds
Every year, The Oregon Garden Education Department sees nearly ten thousand children participate in their education programs. Where else in one day can a child dissect five different flowers, dissect a cattail in order to determine its important role in water filtration, play a game where one becomes a deer competing for natural resources in our Rediscovery Forest, and discover first hand some aquatic critters that live at the bottom of the wetlands?
Our success story begins with sponsors who support two of our programs: The Environmental Education Program and The Forestry Education Program. Both education programs host school programs, Scout Groups, Homeschool Groups, Educator Workshops, and Special Education Events. Due to 80 acres of a diverse array of beautiful gardens, wetlands and forests, many students of all ages are offered a once in a lifetime experience. The Oregon Garden grows more than plants - breathing fresh air and participating in hands-on activities facilitates growing great minds.
Chemeketa Community College in partnership with The Oregon Garden is now offering special classes of various topics at The Garden. Click here for our current class schedule
SPROUT or the Sustainable Plant Research and Outreach Center's mission is to develop the use of plants and plant material for environmental sustainability purposes, through the development of new techniques, new plants, and new propagation methods. For more info on SPROUT click here.
