Berry Pruning Techniques Workshop
Saturday, February 23—9am to 12pm
Check in from 8:30 to 9am
Those interested in home orchard gardening are invited to learn proper berry pruning techniques taught by Dr. Bernadine Strik at The Oregon Garden. The class fee is $15 ($10 for members of The Oregon Garden). To register, please call The Oregon Garden at (503) 874-8100. Pre-registration is preferred.

This hands-on workshop will focus on a variety of berries, including blueberries, marionberries and other cultivated blackberries, summer-bearing and fall-bearing red raspberries, black raspberries, gooseberries, and currants. If there is time and interest, proper pruning of grapes will be demonstrated.

Dr. Strik, who is an Extension Berry Crops Professor of horticulture at Oregon State University, will emphasize pruning techniques and the importance of proper pruning to get consistent high yield and quality.

Bring a pair of pruners if you'd like the opportunity to help prune some plants - it's the best way to learn! Come prepared for whatever the weather brings us.
