This music series takes place once a month from June through August\, and features a lineup of beloved local musicians as well as food and drinks. Even better\, your ticket includes after hours admission to The Oregon Garden\, a very special treat this time of year.\n\nJuly 17th • Reverend Shaky and the Part Time Believers\n\nReverend Shaky and The Part Time Believers is a Salem grown\, bluesy-rock-folk-funk and country-swing-alternative band playing originals and B-side covers. Composed of 5 principal members\, the band tailors set lists and sound to a venue’s unique needs\, occasionally drawing from the Willamette Valley’s pool of exceptional musicians for additional texture\, diversity\, and glamour.\n\nDoors at 5:30pm. Music from 6PM to 8PM.\nADMISSION\n13 and over: $10\n12 and under: Free\nGarden Members: $5*\n\n*please be prepared to show active membership card.\n\nClick HERE to Purchase Tickets \n\n\nOur Summer Concert Series is held outdoors on our Garden Green lawn. Come prepared for sunny weather as shade is limited! In the event of inclement weather\, we will move indoors.\n\nLimited sand chairs will be available to rent for $3 each. Guests are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs. \nOutside food and drinks are allowed\, with the exception of alcoholic beverages. \nWell-behaved pets on leashes are welcome. \nParking is free.

DESCRIPTION:Join David G. Lewis at the Garden for an introduction to the new book about the Native histories of when the tribes in the Willamette Valley encountered settlement. Further research into settler changes to the Willamette Valley will also be discussed. \n__ \nDavid G. Lewis is a citizen of the Grand Ronde tribe\, descendant of the Santiam\, Takelma and Chinook peoples of the region. David is an assistant Professor of Anthropology and Indigenous studies at OSU and lives in Salem. He writes the Quartux Journal Blog and is preparing additional publications about tribes in the region based on current research. \n__ \nDavid is the author of Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley. Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley is a must read book for anyone living here and wanting to know its history. DESCRIPTION:Learn to garden with beneficial insects and paint with cockroaches! \n__ \nDuring this workshop we will learn all about the good insects in your garden and how to encourage their presence. We know about how great ladybugs and praying mantids are\, but did you know there are many more awesome insects out there that can help eat those pesky caterpillars and aphids? Students will also receive several handouts that contain helpful resources and information on beneficial insects and pollinators. Next we will check out some pre-collected beneficial insects and take a little field trip to see what we can find around the garden.
