DESCRIPTION:Each September\, Oregon Forest Resources Institute invites home school students ages 5 to 12 to join us for a fun-filled day of outdoor learning at The Oregon Garden. Experience the beauty of the garden in late summer bloom while learning about the natural world. Get inspired through fun science and art activities! We offer hands-on\, self-paced learning stations throughout the garden on topics including: \n\n\nPollinators\nForest wildlife\nBug anatomy\nFire risk and prevention\nMud and manure management\nFun with trees\nGarden in a glove\nThe world of insects\nPlant adaptations\nBird adaptations\n…and more!\n\n\n\n\n\nAdmission\n\nHomeschool materials are included free with general Garden admission\, which can be purchased at our Visitor Center. DESCRIPTION:This event will be moved indoors due to an excessive heat warning in effect for Thursday\, September 5th. \nJoe Stoddard will be performing in our J. Frank Schmidt Jr. Pavilion. Tables and chairs will be provided! Please follow driveway signs for parking and event entrance. \nWe hope to see you soon! \n\n\nCelebrate the summer in style with Music on the Lawn at The Oregon Garden! This summer music series takes place two Thursdays a month from June through September\, and features a lineup of beloved local musicians as well as food and drinks. Even better\, your ticket includes after hours admission to The Oregon Garden\, a very special treat this time of year.\n\nSeptember 5th • Joe Stoddard\n\nJoe Stoddard is a comedian and musician known for his high energy variety show which covers a range of genres and styles including oldies\, country\, rock and roll\, original work\, impersonations and more!\n\nDoors at 5:30. DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Garden welcomes artist Pamela Sue Johnson\, who will be offering a watercolor painting workshop with a focus on florals. Pamela\, who is known for her expressive art and engaging teaching style\, will guide you step by step in creating a watercolor painting of a bouquet of flowers. No drawing experience or painting experience needed. \nAll materials will be provided during this workshop – just bring yourself and a willingness to learn! SUMMARY:Garden University: Wilderness First Aid Skills
DESCRIPTION:Diane Vireday\, a Red Cross CPR Instructor and Herbal Medic\, is partnering with The Oregon Garden to teach guests the basics of first aid for everyday ailments while camping\, out in the woods\, or in a disaster situation. This fun\, informative\, and thorough session will give you the first skills to treat bleeding\, burns\, broken bones\, and other injuries while waiting for the paramedics. Attendees will take home home a wilderness first aid starter pack\, as well! \n\nAttendance at this workshop provides partial credit towards full certification in Wilderness First Aid (a $75 value). \n\nGeneral Admission: $40\nMembers: $30 \nClick here to purchase tickets.  \nYour event ticket includes admission to The Oregon Garden. She grew up in the Southwest\, and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest during college in Portland\, and raised two wonderful sons here. She has had a varied career\, such as starting a Swiss bakery for a farmer’s market\, and also has been an herbalist for over 20 years and had an herb farm with over 100 medicinals and dye plants. She is currently in the herbal medic program of the Human Path/Herbal Medics Academy.
