Join David G. Lewis at the Garden for an introduction to the new book about the Native histories of when the tribes in the Willamette Valley encountered settlement. Further research into settler changes to the Willamette Valley will also be discussed.

David G. Lewis is a citizen of the Grand Ronde tribe, descendant of the Santiam, Takelma and Chinook peoples of the region. David is an assistant Professor of Anthropology and Indigenous studies at OSU and lives in Salem. He writes the Quartux Journal Blog and is preparing additional publications about tribes in the region based on current research.

David is the author of Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley. Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley is a must read book for anyone living here and wanting to know its history. David’s research is unique, there is no research out there with such depth as this book.
