Internship Program Information: The program is open to current college students interested in horticulture or related fields of study; enrolled in a college program or applicable program; or is open to recent graduates with a horticulture degree looking to gain more experience. Internships are available all 4 quarters (fall, winter, spring and summer). Internships are unpaid and should be completed because of an academic requirement and interns should receive academic credit through their institutions.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience by rotating through different garden areas working on groundskeeping of display gardens, spending two to three weeks with the horticulturists in each area giving interns the opportunity to work within all areas of horticulture, including greenhouse and nursery operations, irrigation, and water feature maintenance. Interns will also get to work with volunteers, participate in seasonal events, and assist with other various operations.

Position Requirements: Candidates should be available to work for three months, or the duration of the required program hours and/or actively enrolled in a horticulture related program– there is a case by case consideration for recent horticulture program graduates. The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work in a fast paced environment, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate will also have to have a willingness to work independently, do repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in adverse weather conditions.
