Garden University: Insect Coloration Workshop

December 13 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

‘Tis the season to get crafty!  Join us at the Oregon Gardens for a fun and informative class. We’ll start off the event learning about different types of coloration in insects, and the rolls it serves these critters.  We will then make pendants out of real beetle wings and handmade glass beads. And since we are getting into the holidays, we will also decorate holiday cards.

Heather Andrews is a research entomologist at Oregon State University.  She works at a university extension office in Aurora where she studies growing practices in orchard crops that minimize their negative impact on the environment while maximizing yield.  In her free time Heather makes jewelry, draws and also plays the harp.
