Garden University: Aesthetic Pruning for Beginners

Kahlia Waters is returning to the Oregon Garden! Unlock the hidden beauty in your trees and shrubs with the art of aesthetic pruning.
__
This is a beginner-friendly, hands-on class that will introduce participants to the fundamental principles of pruning for form, balance, and visual appeal. Learn how to “read” the natural structure of a plant and make thoughtful cuts that enhance its beauty rather than just control its size. The class will include live demonstrations where participants will observe pruning techniques in action, and then learn to assess plant structure, identify key branches, and make cuts that promote graceful, healthy growth. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice their new skills under guided supervision.
*We will begin the workshops in the classroom to have a presentation about pruning, and also the time to ask questions. Then we will walk out to the pruning site to practice. Please be mindful that this is about a .25 mile walk out to the pruning site from the classroom.
__
Please bring your own water, gloves, and a hat! We encourage you to bring your own pruners so you can practice with your own tools, however, we have extra pairs you can use! You can also bring photos of your fruit trees
